Marriage is a sacred journey, a covenant of love that reflects God’s own faithfulness. Yet every couple, at some point, needs encouragement, guidance, and the reminder that they are not alone.

The Archdiocese of Detroit invites married couples to prayerfully consider joining the Marriage Coaching Ministry—a mission where seasoned couples walk alongside other couples, offering hope, wisdom, and the gift of accompaniment in Christ.

What is Marriage Coaching?

Marriage Coaching is not counseling or therapy—it is a ministry of purposeful support and presence. Coaching couples share their lived experience, their faith, and practical tools to help other couples rediscover closeness, unity, and joy in their marriage. Together, they explore:

  1. Building strong relationships and understanding family roots
  2. God’s plan for marriage and the healing power of forgiveness
  3. Setting priorities and praying together as one
  4. Loving and serving each other daily
  5. Communicating with openness and tenderness
  6. Embracing the gift of sexuality in marriage
  7. Growing spiritually as husband and wife

Why This Ministry Matters

Through seven guided sessions, couples are invited to deepen their sacramental commitment and rekindle the flame of love that God intended for them. Whether newly married, raising children, or walking through later seasons of life, couples find renewal, healing, and strength in this ministry.

Couples who have benefited from the Marriage Coaching program have ranged from young marrieds to empty nesters and elderly. Some couples are simply seeking a refresher for their marriage, while many are experiencing varying degrees of challenges, struggles, or stagnation in their marriages.

Coaching couples themselves are equipped with training, ongoing formation, and the joy of witnessing God’s grace at work in marriages. It is a chance to give back, to share your journey, and to be a living witness of hope.
