Pro-Life Ministry Resources for the Faithful
"We will continue our efforts to build a culture of life in which abortion is unthinkable, all families receive the support they need, and the dignity of all people is recognized. We do this with confidence in the ultimate victory of Christ, whose resurrection to life has defeated the powers of death.”
— Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron
Our mission as Catholics is to show love and respect for all human life, made in the image and likeness of God, from conception to natural death. This work is more critical now than ever, as the unborn are stripped of their basic right to life and mothers face the harmful lie that the death of their children is a solution to their struggles.
The Archdiocese of Detroit is committed to walking with and supporting women and families in need—with open arms and no judgment. It is through such spiritual, emotional, and practical support that we can create a world in which abortion is unnecessary and unthinkable, and all women are empowered to choose life for their children.
We live out our mission primarily through the work of Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan, the charitable arm of our local Church, and the Archdiocese's Department of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship. In particular, the Archdiocese supports Walking with Moms in Need (WWMIN), a ministry to help parishioners identify and create local resources to help pregnant and parenting moms in need, and Project Rachel, an important healing ministry for individuals who have been harmed by abortion.
