Position Description

Head Varsity Softball Coach

● Planning, Organizing and Conducting daily practices 
● Develop team budget and anticipated expenses associated with uniform, equipment and facility usage for current year and future needs. Keep Athletic Director informed of purchase needs. 
● Manage uniform and equipment distribution. 
● Educate athletes in health and safety concerns associated with Softball. 
● Experienced and proficient in teaching and developing softball skills and fundamentals. 
● Develop practice and competition strategies. 
● Maintain adequate communication with athletes and parent(s). 
● Keep Athletic Director informed of scheduling changes, athlete and/or parental issues. 
● Hire and oversee any Assistant Coaching positions as determined by need. 


● Coaching experience preferred. 
● Applicant must have in depth technical knowledge of softball, all contest rules and MHSAA regulations. 
● Applicants must have competitive experience at the high school varsity, club, and/or college level. 
● Familiarity with the Catholic High School League and knowledge of the MHSAA organizations preferred. Willingness to meet all League and state coaching requirements. 
● Strong interpersonal skills. 
● Ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student athletes and parents. 
● Support the growth of the student athletes in virtue, discipleship and living the Catholic faith. 
● Take Protecting God's Children workshop and have a background check. 
● After School availability (3:00 pm or after) for practices and events. Saturday availability during season.
