Position Description

Holy Cross Catholic School is looking for a dedicated and capable principal who has a commitment to Catholic principles, strong leadership qualities, and an eye to the future in education.  Previous administrative experience is most desirable.
Holy Cross Catholic School is currently serving approximately 100 students in grades Prekindergarten – 8 with a dedicated staff.  Holy Cross shares a campus with Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School with a large gym and cafeteria.  Holy Cross is in a standalone building connected to Holy Cross Catholic Church.  The school building contains a science lab, library and computer room.


  • Be a practicing Catholic who is able to provide a letter of recommendation from parish pastor.
  • Hold a Master’s degree or higher from an approved program in Educational Administration offered by an institute of higher education (IHE).
  • The basic endorsement for a school administrator certificate is Elementary/Secondary Administrator K-12 (Building). A Catholic Principal, assistant Catholic Principal or other person whose primary responsibility is administering instructional programs employed as a school administrator after January 4, 2010 must hold a valid Administrator certificate in accordance with SB-981.

A school administrator who was employed as a school administrator on or before January 4, 2010 does not need to hold the Administrator certificate for their current position but must meet the same continuing education requirements as described in the renewal policy for the Professional Education teaching certificate, every five years after initial date of employment.

  • Hold currently valid Michigan teacher certification
  • Hold catechist formation certification as directed by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools. Certification from another diocese will be reviewed during application process.
  • Be able to provide evidence of three years of successful teaching experience
  • Be able to meet any other local requirements pertinent to the available administrative position.
  • Be a certified Catechist or able to complete the process prior to the fall.
  • Continually improving professional skills through advancement and AOD workshops.
  • Be able to provide proof of at least three years of successful teaching experience.
