Together in Holiness Marriage Enrichment Initiative for Family of Parishes

The Archdiocese of Detroit Department of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship is partnering with the St. John Paul II Foundation to bring Together in Holiness to parishes and married couples across the archdiocese. Together in Holiness will equip Families of Parishes with the opportunity to offer spouses in their community vibrant and impactful marriage enrichment with the accompaniment of other couples.

Together in Holiness is a comprehensive marriage enrichment initiative that inspires spouses to grow together in holiness and empowers and equips parents to form their children in the Catholic faith.

The Together in Holiness Conference and Formation series features themes based on the life, witness, and teachings of St. John Paul II on marriage and family, while emphasizing the pastoral thrust of Pope Francis to “care for families to enable them to be both domestic churches and a leaven of evangelization in society.” (Amoris Laetitia, 290). The first-year theme is the family as a domestic church.

The Together in Holiness Conference series provides an experience of encounter through dynamic national and local speakers and acts as a catalyst for couples in Family of Parishes to participate in the small group Formation series with other couples so as to dive deeper into the theme.

The Together in Holiness Formation series is a seven-session marriage enrichment series that fosters and sustains a natural community of friends who accompany each other on the path to holiness by providing a unique formation experience that will help learning take root in daily living. The Formation series is also available to Spanish-speaking couples through captioned videos and translated materials.

The Together in Holiness Formation series will equip Family of Parishes to:

  1. Build community and accompaniment amongst married couples and families
  2. Provide formation, encouragement, and practical tools to inspire spouses and empower parents

St. John Paul II Foundation staff provide all the vetting, training, and ongoing support to couples interested in serving as Host Couples who will facilitate the small groups. The parish simply needs to identify and invite couples to serve as Host Couples.

The archdiocesan partnership with the St. John Paul II Foundation provides a discounted rate for Families of Parishes who choose to partner with the Together in Holiness Formation series. This will allow each Family of Parishes to invite couples to be trained as Host Couples and receive ongoing support to facilitate the small group gathering of couples.
