St Mel Parish Dearborn Heights

Release Date: 5/3/17

On April 5, 2017, Archbishop Allen Vigneron issued two decrees concerning St. Mel Parish and Parish Church in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. The first decree brings about the cessation of St. Mel Parish community, redistributing the territory to St. Linus Parish, Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish and Saint Mary Cause of Our Joy Parish. The second decree relegates to profane use but not sordid use the Saint Mel Church building. Both decrees take effect on July 1, 2017. For two weekends, that is until May 7, these decrees will be posted in St. Mel Church. A certified copy of the decrees may be obtained from the parish office upon request.
