Our Lady of the Scapular Polish Parish Wyandotte

Release Date: 5/9/14

In light of questions that have arisen, the Archdiocese of Detroit wants to revise certain elements of notification of the decrees regarding the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish and the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish and Parish Church. On July 1, 2013, Archbishop Allen Vigneron issued these decrees. The first decree merged Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Stanislaus Kostka Parishes and, in so doing, created a personal parish to care for those of Polish descent called Our Lady of the Scapular Parish. The second decree relegated St. Stanislaus Kostka Church to profane but not sordid use. These changes took legal effect on August 1, 2013. The method for recourse concerning administrative decrees is found in canons 1732-1739 of the Code of Canon Law. For the next two weekends, that is until May 18, the aforementioned decrees will be placed at the entrance of the church. A certified copy of the decrees may be obtained from the parish office upon request. n/a
