Position Description

Catholic Central High School of Detroit, located in the suburb of Novi, Michigan, is
seeking a gifted, qualified individual for its next President, beginning no later than
July 1, 2019. Ideally the candidate is an experienced, successful administrator with
a graduate degree in secondary school administration or education. Catholic
Central High School [the School] has been under the direction of the Congregation
of St. Basil [Basilian Fathers] since its inception in 1928. It is now celebrating its
90th year serving the Detroit-area community. It is a highly successful, respected,
and much-celebrated college-prep educational institution for young men, with
current enrollment over one thousand.
  • Advancing and enhancing the School’s Catholic mission and Basilian charism
  • Providing visionary leadership and strategic thinking and planning
  • Working closely and successfully with the Principal
  • Leading the School’s advancement and development efforts, including its capital campaigns and annual giving
  • Ensuring financial sustainability, integrity, and growth
  • Collaborating successfully with the Board of Directors
  • Exercising general oversight over all aspects of the School


  • Practicing Catholic
  • Excellent moral character
  • Passion and commitment to Catholic education in the Basilian Tradition
  • Undergraduate degree in Education or related management experience, advanced degree preferred
  • Ability to be the public face of the school
  • Vigorous fundraising leader
  • Familiarity and comfort with and dedication to Catholic Central’s traditions and culture
  • Intelligence and readiness to learn and adapt
  • Ease and comfort in being with all aspects of the Catholic Central Community, particularly with chief administrators, alumni, benefactors and donors, and the general public
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Consensus building abilities
  • Leadership experience and a background which includes budget management
