  • Tips for Understanding the Liturgical Year with Sr. Esther Mary Nickel, RSM: The Liturgical Year sometimes keeps us wondering about the Holy Days of Obligation, how to celebrate the Title Patronal Feast of your parish, or how to prepare for the season of Advent/Christmas or Lent/Easter. This session will provide opportunities to learn some tips, as well as ask questions for further discussion. In particular, we will discuss the Proper Calendar for the Archdiocese of Detroit.
  • OCIA: Initial Welcoming and Evangelization during the Precatechumenate with Kathy Fech: From the moment a person contacts the parish expressing an interest in joining the Church, our response and individualized plan will shape their OCIA experience. How do we evangelize to the unbaptized during the period of the precatechumenate? What does a practicing Christian need in terms of evangelization before becoming a candidate? This session will help explore the importance of a proper precatechumenate experience for the unbaptized as well as the unique needs of Christian candidates who have grown up in the Christian faith.
  • What to Sing, or What Not to Sing: Guidelines and reflections on selecting music for the liturgy with Dr. Horst Buchholz: Sacred music is an integral part of our liturgical celebrations, setting the tone for our worship on a pastoral and spiritual level. While discussions regarding musical styles will always continue, this breakout session will focus specifically on the theology of the texts we sing and whether those texts reflect our beliefs. This session is not limited to music ministers and welcomes anyone involved in the task of planning music for liturgy to attend.
  • Technology in Worship - The good, bad, pitfalls and triumphs! with Aaron Kalemiecki: A guided tour and Q&A through using technology in worship, from instruments, to playing aids, live stream tips and maximizing what your sound system can do for the best possible experience at Mass ~ learn about what tools can really help you, and what to avoid, and how to recover if technology fails you.
