Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa to visit the Archdiocese of Detroit, attend fundraising dinners in support of Holy Land humanitarian efforts
The Archdiocese of Detroit is honored to welcome His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch in Jerusalem, for a pastoral visit from Dec. 4-7, 2025. During his time in southeast Michigan, Cardinal Pizzaballa will meet with the faithful, celebrate Mass, and take part in events celebrating the bonds between Detroit and Jerusalem.
As part of the visit, the Archdiocese will host Cardinal Pizzaballa on Friday, Dec. 5, for an evening of fellowship and witness at a fundraising dinner, United in Faith: Bridging Hearts From the Motor City to the Holy Land. The evening will include a dinner with programming, where Cardinal Pizzaballa will share firsthand insights into the dire situation and enduring hopes of the Church in the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
Archbishop of Detroit Edward J. Weisenburger expressed his joy in welcoming the Cardinal:
“It is a blessing for the faithful of Detroit to welcome Cardinal Pizzaballa, whose courageous witness in the Holy Land strengthens the entire Church. His visit reminds us that the Church is one body, united across every border and culture.
“It is also an occasion to renew our solidarity with the Christian community of the Holy Land and to bring greater attention to the humanitarian challenges they continue to face.”
