Position Description

Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Academy provides a foundation for a lifelong spiritual journey with academic excellence for every child.  This is an exciting opportunity for a talented, qualified teacher to become a part of our journey.  We are teaching in a new building addition with technology throughout the classrooms.  This position is the 7th grade homeroom teacher, 5th - 8th grade Social Studies instructor and 7th and 8th grade Religion teacher.
 

Qualifications/Requirements

All teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and /or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan.  All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach.  All teachers who are catechist,(teachers of religion), must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools.

1. Hold a current state of Michigan teaching certificate that is appropriate for the teaching of grade 6-8 Social Studies (RX or CX).
2. Possess or be willing to work towards receiving a catechist certificate issued by the Archdiocese of Detroit Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools.
3.  Creatively use technology and hands-on experiences in classroom instruction.
4.  Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all the students.
5.  Plan instruction and assessment in accordance with school curriculum guidelines.
6.  Successfully manage students in a Christian manner and environment.
7.  Effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff members.
8.  Maintain all records and reports in accordance with school policies.
