Throughout the Gospels, Christ calls each of us, in a special way, to be His disciples. The annual Catholic Services Appeal gives us a special opportunity to answer His call and to renew our personal commitment to more fully participate as good stewards in His mission for the Church. We are the Body of Christ, and through our support of CSA-funded ministries, programs, and services, we are able to impact the lives of thousands in southeast Michigan and beyond each day.
This year, we continue Sharing Christ in and through the Church as our CSA theme to emphasize the mission of the Archdiocese of Detroit. The theme is also fitting during this Year of Faith, which focuses on evangelization — spreading the Good News of Christ to the world.
The CSA touches all of us, both personally and in our parishes, in ways we may not realize. Our gifts to the CSA allow countless people to enjoy the fruits of the work of the Archdiocesan Central Services departments of Communications; Development and Stewardship; Evangelization, Catechesis, and Schools; and Parish Life and Services. Gifts to the CSA also support the Office of Priestly Vocations, Sacred Heart Major Seminary, and the Metropolitan Tribunal. When we make our annual pledge to the CSA, and share the blessings God gives us, we join with all of our sisters and brothers in Christ throughout the Archdiocese to do the Lord’s work — work that no single individual or parish could do alone.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have; God is pleased with sacrifices of that kind (Hebrews 13:16).
