Action Plan: Group 3

  • Our Lady Queen of Peace
  • Our Lady Star of the Sea
  • St. Joan of Arc
  • St. Lucy
  • St. Peter the Apostle

St. Joan of Arc and St. Lucy

In early 2012, St. Joan of Arc and St. Lucy, as cluster partners, will develop plans to merge. A merger plan should be submitted to the Regional Moderator no later than December 31, 2012. The plan to merge should be implemented upon the reassignment of the current pastor(s), no later than June 30, 2016. Plans should commence with models for initial collaboration and include contingency plans for programming, outreach and administration, for clustering/merging the parishes, and/or closing buildings and planning for the sale of property.

Our Lady Queen of Peace

As a result of planning at Our Lady Queen of Peace, the parish has already begun to prepare parishioners for a transition to close. Parish activities will continue at Our Lady Queen of Peace until its buildings are leased or sold. The buildings will be marketed as available for sale or lease beginning July 1, 2012. Parishioners will be encouraged to visit and join neighboring parishes. Upon the closing of the parish campus, the territory of Our Lady Queen of Peace will be divided among neighboring parishes in accord with canon law and with appropriate archdiocesan consultation.

St. Peter the Apostle

In early 2012, St. Peter the Apostle will begin to develop plans to merge with a nearby parish, to be submitted to the Regional Moderator no later than December 31, 2012. The plan should be implemented when:

1. The current pastor is no longer available and a replacement is not available to be assigned;

2. The lease with the HEART Academy charter school ends; or,

3. When the parish begins to experience a net operating deficit.

Plans should commence with models for initial collaboration and include contingency plans for programming, outreach and administration, for clustering/merging the parishes, and/or closing buildings and planning for the sale of property.

Our Lady Star of the Sea

In early 2012, Our Lady Star of the Sea is to develop collaboration partnership(s) with nearby parish(es) to be submitted to the Regional Moderator no later than June 30, 2012, including plans for evaluating programs and determining areas for collaboration in the event of the need to implement a temporary cluster. In this way the pastors and parishes will have already developed relationships if an emergency vacancy of a pastorate were to occur.
