FatherJanTyminskiFr. Jan (John) Tyminski (1906-1984). Ordained in 1935. More than three decades after his death*, an allegation of the sexual abuse of minor was brought forward to the Archdiocesan Review Board, considered and deemed to be credible.

Five years after his ordination in Poland, Fr. Tyminski was incarcerated in German concentration camps. He arrived in the U.S. in 1950 and spent a year at SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake. From 1951 until his retirement in 1976, he served in five archdiocesan parishes.

Individuals with knowledge of sexual abuse by clergy or church representatives are urged to contact local law enforcement and/or the Michigan Attorney General’s Office. Individuals also may contact the Archdiocese of Detroit by visiting or via the 24x7 toll-free victim assistance line (866.343.8055). There are no time limits or restrictions on making a complaint.
