The Archdiocese of Detroit on Wednesday announced it is replacing The Michigan Catholic print newspaper with Detroit Catholic, a comprehensive digital news website and service. Starting this fall, Detroit Catholic will feature free, daily and engaging news coverage of missionary activities of the local church in southeast Michigan.

To facilitate this news transformation, The Michigan Catholic newspaper will cease print publication after the August 24 issue, with an anticipated digital launch of the Detroit Catholic website in November.

The new online news service will continue providing the award-winning coverage and feature stories Michigan Catholic readers expect. However, the transition to Detroit Catholic will allow the archdiocese to enhance that coverage and broaden its storytelling and reach.

Details of this transition are being shared this week with Michigan Catholic subscribers and advertisers, as well as archdiocesan parishes and schools.
