It is a bit harder these days to donate to the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) through the United Way, but it can still be done. It just requires a “write in” campaign.
For many years CYO was an easily designated choice on United Way pledge cards, but a few years ago, for unknown reasons, they were removed from the check-off section and relegated to write-in status.
“It is unclear why it happened,” says Christopher Werner, Executive Director, “but we adjusted and still receive support through the program.” CYO “adjusted” by sending out notice to all interested citizens of the write-in campaign. “It is a little more complicated,” says Werner, “however we are up to the challenge and remain grateful for the support we have from the community.”
To make a donation in support of CYO in this year’s United Way campaign, just look to the spot where you can write in a charitable organization and put in Catholic Youth Organization. United Way will continue to make sure that support flows through them to the agency. Should you wish to donate directly, there are various ways that can be done.
