Msgr. Peter LentineApril 1, 1919 - August 1, 2017 Our brother and fellow priest, Monsignor Peter Lentine, passed on from this life on August 1, 2017 at the age of 98. Monsignor Lentine was born on April 1, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan and ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on May 20, 1950. Monsignor Lentine served as pastor at St. Philomena Parish, Detroit for 50 years. In addition, he served as associate pastor at St. Elizabeth Parish, Wyandotte; Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Grotto) Parish, Detroit; St. Matthew Parish, Detroit; and St. Rita Parish, Detroit. He was named a Chaplain to His Holiness in 2005; and at the time of his death, Monsignor Lentine was the oldest serving pastor in the Archdiocese. Visitation will take place at St. Philomena Parish, 4281 Marseilles, Detroit on Thursday, August 3, 2017, from 4 – 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Philomena on Friday, August 4 from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. with a Scripture service at 7 p.m. Monsignor Lentine will lie in repose on Saturday, August 5 at St. Clare of Montefalco Parish, 1401 Whittier Road, Detroit, Michigan from 10 a.m. until the celebration of his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. A private interment will take place on Monday, August 7 at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. Monsignor Lentine was predeceased by his parents, Emmanuel and Josephine Lentine; his sisters, Rose Crimando and Jenny Methric; and his brothers, William Lentine, Samuel Lentine, James Lentine, Anthony Lentine, Russell Lentine, Joseph Lentine, and Manuel Lentine. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, and their children. Condolences may be sent to his nephew, Norman Lentine, 30649 Mayflower Street, Roseville, Michigan 48066. Kindly include in the general intercessions of your weekend liturgies a prayer for the repose of the soul of Monsignor Lentine.
