Our brother and fellow priest, Monsignor Thomas Villerot, passed on from this life on December 5, 2016 at the age of 99.
Monsignor Villerot was born July 1, 1917 in Detroit, Michigan and ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on May 29, 1943.
Monsignor Villerot's assignments included serving as pastor of St. Martin of Tours Parish, Detroit; St. Jude Parish, Detroit; and St. Valerie of Ravenna Parish, Clinton Township. He had also served as associate pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Erie; St. Catherine Parish, Detroit; St. Lawrence Parish, Detroit; and St. Mary Parish, Royal Oak. In addition, he served as administrator of St. Mary Parish, Royal Oak and on the faculty of Sacred Heart Major Seminary. He was named a Prelate of Honor in 1990.
Visitation will take place at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 5 - 8 p.m. There will be a Rosary at 7 p.m.
Monsignor Villerot will lie in state on Saturday, December 10 at St. Mary Parish, 730 South Lafayette Avenue, Royal Oak, Michigan from 10 a.m. until the celebration of his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
Monsignor Villerot was predeceased by his parents, Henry Villerot, Sr. and Mary O'Brien Villerot; by his brothers, Rev. Henry and Ernest; and by his sisters Sr. Mary Frances Xavier Villerot, RSM, Kathleen Lama, and Anne. He is survived by his brother, Joseph; and his sisters Sr. M.
