Position Description

Under the direction and supervision of the Pastor and Facilities Coordinator a Maintenance employee is responsible for the effective, efficient, and safe maintenance, renovation and upkeep of the parish buildings, property, and equipment.  Shifts overlap to maximize coverage from 6:00am through 4:30pm as well as alternate weekends for general maintenance needs and response to emergency situations. 

This is a Full-time position.

Regular and Routine Responsibilities
  • Unlock all doors per schedule and turn on all building lights as needed
  • Set out parking cones for morning/dismissal school traffic; pick up cones after dismissal
  • Prepare Church and Chapel for funerals and weddings 
  • Prepare all meeting rooms on campus with requested set-up, equipment and supplies
  • Clean and maintain baptismal font on a regular schedule
  • Maintain a regular schedule cleaning outside areas for each building and maintain overall appearance and upkeep of the parish grounds
  • In winter, keep all sidewalks and all building entrances clear of snow and ice
  • According to season, maintain the rectory humidifiers or dehumidifiers and air filters 
  • Accept freight deliveries, notify appropriate staff and deliver to assigned location
  • Remove trash from the rectory and other areas as needed.
  • Check/correct/ repair lights in all buildings and regularly test all emergency lights and inspect all fire extinguishers 
  • Complete immediate and essential maintenance requests as assigned
Inventory and Purchasing
  • Regularly monitor and restock hospitality supplies in each building
  • Contact a rental company for tables/chairs for special events when necessary
  • Order signage, furniture, or equipment as directed
  • Monitor battery supply and equipment for each building sound system
  • Purchase cleaning supplies for the rectory and church sacristy
Specialized Maintenance
  • Inventory and monitor all aspects of building key control, lock and key adjustments
  • Troubleshoot and/or complete minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other repairs
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule for various systems including a timetable for filter changes for all HVAC and boiler systems. 
  • Investigate and troubleshoot any heating and/or cooling issues and concerns for all buildings.
  • Complete paint jobs as assigned for the upkeep of buildings; maintain listing of all paint used
  • Remove debris from all roof drains and gutters as needed on all buildings.
  • Work with outside contracted services to facilitate repairs
 

Qualifications/Requirements

Technical degree or High School graduate or its equivalent required and 3 to 5 years of work experience in operations and maintenance of commercial facilities.  Knowledge and experience in plumbing, electrical repairs and computerized heating and cooling systems essential.   Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. up to 4 feet high.  Have strong organizational skills and be a self-starter.  Good written and verbal communication skills.
