Position Description

St. Patrick Catholic School is looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and positive Fifth Grade teacher to promptly join our staff and school community. The candidate would teach Math and Science to both 5th grade classes, while the partner teacher teaches ELA and Social Studies.
In addition to homeroom and advisory responsibilities, an ideal candidate would possess strong communication and teaching skills, a willingness to take on extracurricular roles and responsibilities, and a strong Catholic Christian identity.  Although previous experience is preferred, recent college graduates will be considered.


All teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and /or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan.  All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach.  All teachers who are catechist,(teachers of religion), must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools.

  • Strong example of Catholic Christian faith
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement to teach 5th grade with a focus in Mathematics and Science
  • Must be Highly Qualified in accordance with NCLB and ESSA
  • Proficiency in Mathematics and Science instruction and strong working knowledge of those standards
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff
  • Strong communication, technology, and organizational skills
  • Competency in student management and supervision
  • Plan, prepare, and implement instruction and assessments in accordance with school guidelines
  • Work cohesively with the partner teacher and staff family
  • Successfully manage students in a Christian manner and environment
  • Effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff members
  • Differentiate instruction to reasonably meet the needs of all students
  • Support and implement school initiatives
  • Attend to job requirements outside school hours, such as parent-teacher conferences, retreats, etc.
  • Model Catholic Christian faith, behavior, and academic inquiry
