All teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and /or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan. All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach. All teachers who are catechist,(teachers of religion), must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools.
All candidates must be certified by the State of Michigan Department of Education in the K-8 instructional area.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
-Design and implement lesson plans that integrate Gospel values into the core curriculum.
-Implement a differentiated instructional and assessment model that enhances learning and achievement.
-Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of different learning styles and the needs of students assigned.
-Work cooperatively with other members of the staff to determine instructional goals, outcomes, and methods of instruction.
-Implement research based practices.
-Create a high level of active student engagement and student-led learning.
-Use technology to enhance and strengthen the learning process.
STUDENT GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT:
-Conduct on-going evaluations of student achievement through formal and informal methods of instruction and assessment.
-Create a classroom environment conducive to the learning and development of students.
-Manage student behavior in accordance with the Bishop Kelley Catholic School Code of Conduct and Catholic values rooted in our Catholic faith.
-Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with parents, students, administration, colleagues and community members.
-Support parents as the primary educators and catechists of their children.
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT:
PARTICIPATE AND SUPPORT BISHOP KELLEY SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES AND PROGRAM IMPROVEMENTS BY FULLY ENGAGING IN PROFESSIONAL TRAINING FOR THESE INITIATIVES.
-Participate and seek professional development opportunities to improve job-related skills.
-Commit to continual professional improvement, and spiritual growth as servants of the Lord.
-Continue Catechetical training.
-Participate in faculty, student and parent offerings of Praise and Worship, morning Mass, prayer and Adoration.
-Strive to advance the AOD's pastoral strategy as articulated in the Archbishop's pastoral letters and the recent new vision for Catholic Schools.
-Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required or needed.
-Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents required.
-Attend spiritual growth offerings.
