Position Description

The Senior Accountant provides a consistent, efficient, and organized presence in the Finance Office. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records so that Academy of the Sacred Heart is able to effectively further its mission as detailed in the Goals and Criteria.

Job Segments:

  • Maintaining and executing financial procedures
  • Reconciling general ledger accounts
  • Completing monthly accrual entries
  • Preparing daily, month-end and year-end journal entries and close schedules
  • Assisting with financial reporting
  • Working with third party auditors during annual financial statement audit
  • Supporting budget preparation at the divisional level
  • Interacting with budget managers to assist in ongoing forecasting
  • Communicating with families and donors regarding tuition and pledges receivable
  • Being the first point of contact regarding financial matters within the Finance Office
  • Researching, interpreting, and analyzing financial data
  • Verifying payroll on a semi-monthly basis
  • Implementing efficiencies by formatting Excel into QuickBooks importable files
  • Engaging vendors as part of the RFP or contract renewal process
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Certified Public Accountant license and related advanced degree requirements
  • CPE credits and reporting must be up-to-date
  • Have at least three (3) years’ experience in auditing in accordance with GAAP
  • Not-for-profit accounting and auditing experience preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Word, and Google platforms required
  • FACTS and PCR experience a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Proven project management experience
  • Highly self-directed with an attention to detail and ability to organize effectively
