Position Description

Part time. May be combined with another part-time position for full time status. Responsible for facilitating the sacramental life of the parish community by coordinating and providing quality liturgical experiences which celebrate and strengthen attendees' journey of faith.

Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Duties and Tasks:
  • Maintain a life of Christian prayer and reliance on the Holy Spirit.
  • Serve as a member of the parish staff and cooperate with the pastor and other staff members in working for the good of the entire parish.
  • Contact person for the diocesan liturgical commission.
  • Staff liaison for all liturgical celebrations at both parish and diocesan level.
  • Communicate with all whose work affects or is affected by liturgical celebrations.
  • Recruit, train, oversee, and manage scheduling of all involved in liturgical ministries.
  • Maintain current records on all liturgical ministers.
  • Oversee the scheduling of all liturgical celebrations and prayer services to ensure the integrity of the liturgical year.
  • Prepare and follow annual budget in consultation with pastor, director of operations, and finance council.
  • Order all materials for church celebrations: candles, wine, hosts, vessels, etc.
  • Oversee appropriate environmental arrangement for different liturgical seasons.
  • Create Mass documents: Universal Prayers, announcements, listing of Mass intentions
  • Work closely with the Cathedral Visioning Team and the “Sunday Experience” action team to insure a great liturgical experience at the Cathedral.
  • As a person of faith committed to gospel values and responsible management of resources, help the Cathedral and her leaders fulfill their mission and purpose.
  • Apply professional skills and knowledge to perform work without specific directions. Use considerable independent judgment.
  • Supervise staff members as directed by the Rector/Pastor.
  • Collaborate with and advise Pastor/Pastoral Team.
  • Offer helpful hospitality at Archdiocesan liturgical events at the Cathedral, including (but not limited to): Chrism Mass, Catholic Schools Mass, Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass, Good Friday services, Adult Confirmations, Ordinations, and Pentecost Vigil.
  • Assist with rehearsal and completion of Easter Vigil rites.
  • Lead planning and assist with celebration of funerals of various sizes.
  • Increase, promote, and organize Eucharistic Exposition and other worship opportunities.
  • Participate as team member for children’s Baptism preparation and celebrations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Catholic in good standing with an understanding of Catholic liturgical practices.
  • Recognized within the parish community as a person of solid reputation.
  • Ability to learn and implement sacramental theology and practices of the Catholic church.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Clear, confident, hospitable, and warm customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Outlook, Gmail, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, solve problems, and think creatively.
