Position Description

Part time. The wedding coordinator organizes all the many details of each Wedding Mass or Sacrament of Matrimony. The coordinator works closely with other staff members including the pastor, associate pastors, guest presiders, deacons, wedding assistants, organist/music director, church secretary, custodian, and any others who may share in the church's ministry with couples seeking the church's ministry at marriage.


  • Sustain a life of Christian prayer and reliance on the Holy Spirit
  • Minister to couples to plan their wedding.
  • Maintain an extensive database of weddings, making sure they are also on the parish and presider's calendars.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee the wedding assistants who lead rehearsals and day-of coordination.
  • Provide clarity regarding guidelines for preparation, rehearsal, and liturgy using email, phone, mail, and personal conversations.
  • Prepare and record permanent marriage files.
  • Support and continually build the parish’s Marriage Preparation Course: one-day workshops three to four times a year.
  • Stay current on the Rite of Marriage text and other resources made available through the parish and the Catholic Office of Religious Education.
  • Consult with supervisor regarding any questions that arise outside the scope of the parish guidelines.
  • Bring to the attention of the Pastor any matters related to the spiritual needs of the engaged couples.
  • Document any “last-minute” changes for the presider’s approval.
  • Provide musicians, presiders, and wedding assistants with liturgical plans.  Stay in good communication with them.
  • Build awareness of site as wedding venue.
  • Be available for meetings and training at the parish.
  • Catholic in good standing with an understanding of Catholic liturgical practices.
  • Recognized within the parish community as a person of solid reputation.
  • Ability to learn and implement sacramental theology and practices of the Catholic church.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Clear, confident, hospitable, and warm customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Outlook, Gmail, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, solve problems, and think creatively.
