Position Description

Austin Catholic High School, located in Chesterfield, Michigan is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader prepared to be the driving force behind the development and advancement of our growing eight year old school. The Executive Director of Institutional Advancement will be charged right from the start with leading a team to reach our $12 million capital campaign goal. The centerpiece of the campaign is the Dave DeBusschere Center for Athletics. We are looking for a person with demonstrated ability to motivate, communicate and lead a team toward our strategic development and advancement goals. Position details are listed below. Position Summary: The Executive Director of Institutional Advancement is responsible for the design, development, and execution of programs and activities to enhance the growth and sustainability of Austin Catholic High School. Reporting to the Head of School, this senior level position also works closely with the Board of Directors Development Committee and school staff to elevate significantly the philosophy of philanthropic giving at Austin Catholic. Strategic responsibilities start with the design and development of a comprehensive development plan that includes marketing-communications, admissions and donor development ensuring that the school has a clear and consistent voice that is consistent with the school’s mission and long-term strategic goals. Primary responsibility is the financial stewardship and growth of the school through the revision and management of the annual, planned, major, and capital campaigns; leading foundation outreach and grant writing; and the management of alumni relationships, stewardship, and student enrollment activities. The Executive Director must be an excellent manager/mentor and builder of teams while recognizing the immediacy and urgency of the capital campaign.

Qualifications/Requirements

Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or other applicable field required; master’s degree preferred
• 5-10 years of demonstrated fundraising experience in a leadership role, preferably at a university or Catholic/Independent school
• Experience with a large-scale comprehensive fundraising campaign • Possess a deep understanding of foundation and corporate philanthropic giving and familiarity with all facets of an Advancement/Development program, from research to stewardship
• Demonstrated track record of success in executive leadership including evaluating, managing and motivating a team
• Excellent writing and presentation skills; grant-writing experience a plus
• Total resonance with the mission and vision of Austin Catholic High School and the Augustinian Education Philosophy
• Flexibility and adaptability as an independent leader and team member
