Catholic high school teachers/catechists are required to have at least a BA with a major in theology or religious studies or its equivalent or at least a BA in another field with a minimum 30 credit hours of theological competencies. The Archdiocese of Detroit’s policy for religion teachers in a Catholic high school requires that the teacher be certified through the Office of Ministerial Certification or be in the process of obtaining certification. Three years of successful high school teaching experience, including successful teaching of theology classes.
