Position Description

We are seeking an innovative and qualified secondary teacher to join the faculty of Brother Rice High School beginning in August 2019.  The applicant will be a hardworking and enthusiastic teaching professional with excellent subject knowledge and a sound understanding of Roman Catholic Theology.
The position will involve teaching theology classes to students in grades 9-12. The applicant will be a motivated individual with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to love learning and to excel in the subject area of theology.


Catholic high school teachers/catechists are required to have at least a BA with a major in theology or religious studies or its equivalent or at least a BA in another field with a minimum 30 credit hours of theological competencies. The Archdiocese of Detroit’s policy for religion teachers in a Catholic high school requires that the teacher be certified through the Office of Ministerial Certification or be in the process of obtaining certification. A relevant Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in content area and Catechist Certification from the Archdiocese of Detroit

Three years of successful high school teaching experience, including successful teaching of theology classes.
