On November 6, 2018, Archbishop Allen Vigneron issued two decrees.  The first decree brings about the cessation of Saint Philomena Parish, with merging the Saint Philomena Parish territory into Saint Matthew, Saint Clare of Montefalco, and Saint Paul Parishes.  The second decree relegates to secular use Saint Philomena Church.

Special Collection for Hurricane Relief »

At the request of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Vigneron has asked all parishes to consider taking up a special collection at Masses on the weekend of September 16 and 17 to support relief efforts. Funds given through this collection will support the humanitarian and recovery efforts of Catholic Charities USA, providing pastoral and rebuilding support to impacted communities.

Reverend Philomen Okoh, now a priest of the Archdiocese of Oniteke, Nigeria (formerly a member of the Congregation of the Missions) has been serving on the chaplaincy staff at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak without the permission or authorization of the Archbishop of Detroit. Initially he had that permission but it was later withdrawn. Father Okoh has been directed to leave the Archdiocese of Detroit on several occasions in the past but has refused to do so.

Changes to Parish Finance Council Statutes »

On March 14, 2014, Archbishop Allen Vigneron issued a decree authorizing changes to the Statutes for Parish Finance Councils that now bears revision date of October 2013 (rev. 10/13) ); the prior edition being abrogated by this decree and replaced by the revisions bearing revision date of October 2013. To provide parishes the necessary time to align current practices with the Statutes, in accord with canon 8§2 of the Code of Canon Law, these Statutes will become binding on July 1, 2014.
