Friendship with Jesus in the Eucharist – Theology on Tap

Tue, Sept. 17 | 6:30-8:30pm | Royal Oak Taphouse | Royal Oak

In this Theology on Tap, Fr. Charlie Fox will examine many core, essential elements of the Church's teaching about the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. He will focus on what that teaching means for our friendship with Christ and how we share the gift of this friendship with others. We will also consider together how Jesus in the Eucharist helps us to know and live our vocations, the specific missions God desires to entrust to us.  Bring your friends, meet new faces, and enjoy food and drinks while we engage with the talk at 54 West in Clawson. Talk begins at 7pm.

Fr. Charlie Fox is a priest of the Archdiocese of Detroit. He is a Detroit native, attending local Catholic schools before studying journalism at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. After working briefly as a newspaper reporter and editor, he entered Sacred Heart Major Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood in 2006. Father Fox served at two parishes, Our Lady of Sorrows in Farmington and St. Hugo in Bloomfield Hills, and has also served as the Secretary to Archbishop Vigneron and as a Faculty Member at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. He holds a Doctorate of Sacred Theology and teaches Homiletics and Sacramental Theology at Sacred Heart.

Focus on Life Benefit Dinner
Thu, Sep 19 | 6pm | San Marino Club | Troy
Right to Life of Northwest & North Macomb County present Abby Johnson as our special guest speaker at this year’s Focus on Life Benefit Dinner. Abby’s fierce determination to help women in need led her to a career with Planned Parenthood, our nation’s largest abortion provider. During her eight years with Planned Parenthood, Abby became a clinic director and was increasingly disturbed by what she witnessed. In September of 2009, Abby was asked to assist with an ultrasound guided abortion. She watched in horror as a 13 week baby fought and ultimately lost its life at the hands of the abortionist. At that moment, the full realization of what abortion was and what she had dedicated her life to washed over her and a dramatic transformation took place. Desperate and confused, Abby sought help from a local pro-life group. She swore that she would begin to advocate for life in the womb and expose abortion for what it truly is. Abby Johnson’s story inspired the 2019 major motion picture, ‘UNPLANNED’.
