The Office of Sacred Worship has prepared a prayer intention to be used during the Universal Prayers at Masses this weekend:

We must never grow tired of doing good” (Gal.6:9) and praying for peace. With the situation of conflict in Ukraine, let us join in prayer with our Holy Father Pope Francis and make the intention of our Ash Wednesday Fast for peace. May our Lord, who is always faithful, hear our prayers and grant peace in our world.

Let us pray to the Lord.

In addition, they provide the following resources to aid the faithful in coming to “an ever-deeper encounter with Jesus and a greater love and concern for one another.”

On March 2, we will begin our season of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Our Holy Father Pope Francis gave a message for Lent 2022 that opens with an admonition from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Galatians: “Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up. So then, while we have the opportunity, let us do good to all: (Gal 6:9-10). The image of sowing and reaping keeps our focus on embracing the time of Lent so that we will reap a rich harvest of grace as we approach the celebrations of Holy Week and the Sacred Triduum. As we never grow tired of doing food and never give up, we will realize the fruits of the Paschal Mystery, the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus, who gained for us the gift of eternal life. May we participate in the liturgical opportunities for prayer at Holy Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the Stations of the Cross, and all occasions in our Families of Parishes that bring us an ever-deeper encounter with Jesus and a greater love and concern for one another.
