World Youth Day is a gathering of millions of young people from all over the world with the Pope for a weeklong pilgrimage event, an experience of the universal Church, and an intense moment of evangelization and opportunity to encounter Christ. This international gathering occurs every two, three or four years in a city chosen by the Pope.
In early August 2023, the next World Youth Day will be held in Lisbon, Portugal. Every World Youth Day, the Archdiocese of Detroit organizes a pilgrimage group to travel together for this experience (July 30-August 7, 2023). We are partnering with Corporate Travel. Our experience will include a day in Fatima, the site of the 1917 apparitions of Our Lady. The AOD pilgrimage is a large group made up of a collection of several smaller groups, made of mostly parish leaders who bring youth, young adults, and adult leaders.
If your parish is taking a group to World Youth Day with the AOD, you may prefer to join them. However, Detroit Catholic Young Adults (DCYA) also travels as a group within the larger AOD pilgrimage, and if you are 18-35 years old, you are welcome to join us!
Deadline to register is October 31. All the information and registration can be found at aod.org/world-youth-day-lisbon-2023-young-adult-pilgrimage
