Celebration of World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly

When
Sep 8 11:00AM
Location

Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, the Fourth World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly will be celebrated throughout the Church in the United States. The theme chosen by the Holy Father for the occasion is “Do not cast me off in my old age” (Psalm 71) and remind us that “In place of the self-centered attitude that leads to loneliness and abandonment” we are called instead to “show the open heart and the joyful face of men and women who have the courage to say ‘I will not abandon you’, and to set out on a different path” (Pope Francis’ message for World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly 2024).

The Office of Family Ministry invites you to join our celebration! The day will begin with 11:00 a.m. Mass, followed by an ice cream social in the outdoor plaza. Don’t forget to invite your grandparents, aunts, uncles, and anyone else who has provided a “firm foundation on which new stones can rest” to this FREE event.
