The Archdiocese of Detroit invites clergy, Catholic school leaders, catechists, teachers, and lay ministers to learn more about making our parishes and schools welcoming, inclusive communities for persons with disabilities.

Our keynote speaker is Sr. M. Johanna Paruch, FSGM, PhD. Sr. M. Johanna has been a Professor of Catechetics at Franciscan University of Steubenville since 1999, teaching both Graduate and Undergraduate students. She specializes in the History of Catechetics; Catechetics and the Second Vatican Council; Catechetics and the laity, Catechetical Methodology including the use of art, music, literature and film; and Catechesis for Persons with Disabilities. She also teaches a course on Women in the Franciscan Tradition. In addition, she has spoken extensively about catechetics to catechists and Catholic School Teachers throughout the United States, Canada, and England. She presently serves as a consultant to the USCCB’s Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis, and has worked on special projects for the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization as well as serving on the board of the National Catholic Partnership on Disability.
