Detroit Archbishop Allen Vigneron made the following comment regarding today's announcement that Cleveland priest Father David Walkowiak will succeed Bishop Walter Hurley as Bishop of the Diocese of Grand Rapids…

“The Catholic Community of the Archdiocese of Detroit shares the joy of the Church in Grand Rapids in welcoming Bishop David Walkowiak as Bishop Hurley’s successor. On behalf of us all I offer prayerful support to Bishop Hurley as he begins his new chapter in his service to the Church, and I extend a heartfelt welcome to Bishop Walkowiak. I am confident that the Lord Jesus will use him to continue the work of the New Evangelization here in our State.”
