As the Catholic Church’s Cardinal Electors choose a new pope at the Vatican, which after today’s inconclusive vote could happen as early as tomorrow, March 13, the Archdiocese of Detroit reminds those interested that they can receive locally focused news and information on the papal transition via the following means:

  • The Archdiocese of Detroit’s papal transition blog contains commentary from Detroit Archbishop Allen Vigneron and others throughout the papal election.  It also includes a video clip of Cardinal Adam Maida’s recollection of the 2005 Conclave.
  • The Michigan Catholic newspaper and website offer local news and perspectives on Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation and the conclave.
  • The Catholic Television Network of Detroit, an affiliate of CatholicTV, broadcasts a live feed at pertinent moments from the Vatican. It is Channel 398 on Comcast; Channel 16 on Bright House Cable; and Channel 73 on Wyandotte Cable.

Additionally we recommend the following sources for up-to-date national and international news, coverage and positions:

  • The CatholicTV mobile app allows iPhone users to access the live coverage.
