Pope Benedict XVI’s final general audience as Holy Father will be broadcast live on the Catholic Television Network of Detroit (CTND) tomorrow, Wednesday, February 27, at 4:30 a.m. EST. A taped replay will be shown at 10 a.m. During the winter months, papal audiences are usually presented inside the Hall of Paul VI. On this special occasion, and to accommodate the anticipated crowds, Pope Benedict will speak from his apartment window above St. Peter’s Square.
On Thursday, February 28, the pope’s resignation from office takes effect at 2 p.m. local time. Detroit Archbishop Allen Vigneron has invited the faithful to join him at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in a Holy Hour of prayer for the pope on the day of his resignation and for his next, new phase in his ministry.
Additional information and resources, including the archdiocesan papal blog, can be found at www.aod.org/pope. CTND is available in 900,000 homes throughout southeast Michigan. Since 2011, CTND has been an affiliate of Boston-based CatholicTV Network.
