Position Description

A full time position with responsibility for the safe and efficient maintenance and upkeep of the parish and school buildings and grounds.  The campus includes the church, rectory, storage barn, convent, school, and gymnasium.

Primary Duties:
  • Maintain the entire parish and school campus.
  • Perform minor/moderate repairs involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work areas.
  • Recognize and prevent small problems from becoming large problems.
  • Responsible for maintaining the preventive maintenance of the campus.
  • Maintain the day to day operation of the campus.
  • Maintain all safety and code requirements of the federal, state, and local municipalities.
  • Maintain the campus grounds as needed – such as lawn care, leaf collection, pruning, snow / ice removal, etc.
  • As needed, supervision of outside contractors representing the parish and school interests.
  • Coordinate major HVAC, roofing, electrical, and other repairs as needed.
  • Ensure that the parish and school present a clean, safe, and professional campus.
  • On occasion, evening and weekend hours may be required.


Qualifications Required:
  • Associate technical degree or commensurate experience.
  • At least 3 to 5 years experience working in a maintenance environment.
  • Semi-skilled expertise in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical areas.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance methods, procedures, practices, tools, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Motivated to work independently while safely and effectively managing several small jobs.
  • Motivated to prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly assignments/projects/plans to maintain the campus as needed.
  • Maintain a level of professionalism and excellence in repairs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Successful completion of criminal background check and mandatory drug test.
  • Need to complete Protecting God’s Children certification.
Qualifications Desired:
  • 5 to 10 years experience working in a maintenance environment.
  • Certification in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical. 
  • Boiler license
Physical Demands:
  • Individual must have sufficient strength, ability, and dexterity to perform required duties.
  • Individual must have the ability to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and inclement conditions.
  • Individual must be able to lift and/or move supplies, equipment, bulk furniture in the 50 plus pound range.
