Mission Trips

Justice Immersion Ecuador

The Archdiocese of Detroit Encounter Ecuador Experience is for young people who are willing to have their lives touched and forever changed. This experience is more than a trip, it is a journey of conversion that will lead young people to a closer relationship with God and the entire human family.

Registration Packet

Youth will spend time in the South American nation of Ecuador where you will have the opportunity to meet with Ecuadorians, hear their stories, and accompany them for a short time in their daily lives. The program allows young Detroit Catholics to participate in a first-hand immersion experience or to donate money to purchase a llama for an Ecuardorian family, impacting them directly.

Although our time in Ecuador is not forever, I have been profoundly impacted by this trip which will be with me forever. Throughout the trip we have interacted with many people, all made in the image of the Lord.
Emil Turner, Sacred Heart Parish, Detroit

Immediately after our first encounter I began speaking with the workers and notice one of them, Pedro, was missing his left arm. Even with a missing arm this beautiful soul was able to provide for this family. His work was perfection and I was inspired by his story.
Brianna Sloan, Detroit Cristo Rey

As an inner city youth coming to do mission work in Ecuador, this experience has really opened my eyes to many of the problems in our world. When I first met the people in Ecuador I thought I was going to be a superhero and save the day but in reality it was me who needed saving.
Mark Crawford, Detroit Christo Rey
