The Engaging the Young Church Conference is an opportunity for Priests, Deacons, Parish Catechetical Leaders, Youth, Young Adult and Jr. High ministers and their volunteers to: 1) Get equipped with the latest ministry tools and resources, 2) Get encouraged and inspired for the work of ministry, 3) Foster relationships and collaboration between fellow ministers, 4) Collectively pray for the needs of youth, young adults and the various ministries for them.


Bishop CaggianoBishop Caggiano, Keynote Speaker
Bishop Caggiano was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Bishop was invited by Pope Benedict XVI to deliver World Youth Day talks in Sydney in 2008, Madrid in 2011, and by Pope Francis to serve as a catechist at World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, 2013. Bishop Frank Caggiano is currently the bishop of Bridgeport, CT, and he is the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Liaison to the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry. He presently serves on various committees of the USCCB.


Bishop Byrnes

Bishop Michael Byrnes, Special Guest
Bishop Byrnes was ordained a priest by Cardinal Adam Maida in 1996. He later studied in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University where he earned a doctorate of sacred theology in 2003. Bishop Byrnes, a native of Detroit, also served as pastor of Presentation/ Our Lady of Victory Parish from 2004 until his ordination as bishop in 2011. Bishop Byrnes serves as episcopal vicar and regional moderator for the Northeast Region of the archdiocese.



John Lajiness

John Lajiness, Table Discussion Facilitator 
John has been serving the Church for over 15 years in youth ministry, catechesis and evangelization on both the parish and diocesan levels. He is currently the Director of Religious Education at St. John Vianney Parish in the suburbs north of Detroit. John's educational formation includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Sacred Heart Major Seminary and a Master of Arts in Theology also from Sacred Heart.
