The Discernment Retreat is for single men aged 18 – 55 seeking a better understanding of their vocation from the Lord. It takes place at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit.  This weekend retreat features presentations focusing on the different aspects of discernment. The featured speaker is Archbishop Allen Vigneron. Other presenters include Detroit seminarians and seminary faculty members. The retreat will also include time for quiet reflection and Eucharistic adoration.  The Discernment Retreat will be both informative and prayer-filled. Both are important tools for anyone seeking a better understanding of their vocation from the Lord.  The retreat also includes an opportunity to celebrate Solemn Evening Prayer with the seminarians. A catered dinner follows the evening prayer.  The Discernment Retreat will be time well spent with men who are dedicating their lives to serving the Lord and His people.  Typically, this Discernment Retreat draws between 20 -30 participants.  Follow the link for info and to register.

This will provide a great opportunity for former parishioners and students to see the former church and the school which is still open. Afterwards, table leaders bring the discussion down to the individual level. At the end of the evening, a representative from each table shares their collective insights with the rest of the group.

Bashar Kirma is a native of Baghdad, Iraq, and lived through the first two years of the First Gulf War. He became an atheist in his youth and later converted to Christianity through his study of science, history, logic and reason. Bashar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Detroit-Mercy and a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Oakland University with a focus on Electric/Hybrid Vehicles and Alternative Energy. Kirma has 18 years of experience in sales, engineering, team leadership, strategic planning and business development. He founded Silent Saints Ministry, which after 10 years developed into “Silent Saints” TV show and has been featured on Catholic Television Network of Detroit (CTND) and Noursat (Catholic Television for Middle East). Bashar is a husband and father to four children. He is currently writing a book to be titled: “From Atheist To Eucharist…FATE?”

The REVIVE Young Adult Group presents their second annual summer conference...WE ARE CALLED TO UNLEASH THE GOSPEL.  Less than a year ago, Archbishop Allen Vigneron published a pastoral letter titled, "Unleash The Gospel." The letter focuses on the vision for the future of the Archdiocese, how everything that the Archdiocese does should be mission-focused. We are all being called to missionary disciples, but what exactly does this entail? What does the "Unleash The Gospel" letter tell us about becoming and living as the missionary disciples that we are called to be? Come to this conference and learn more about how to become a missionary disciple through the richness of Archbishop Vigneron's "Unleash The Gospel."

SPEAKERS
Francisco (Paco) Gavrilides - a Homiletics Instructor at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, and is involved with Renewal Ministries. He converted to the Catholic Church, and has since dedicated his life to serving Christ in the Church with a passion to share the Gospel. He is a teacher, speaker and evangelist.
 
Debbie Herbeck - the co-founder and leader of Be Love Revolution, a movement dedicated to helping young women encounter and be God’s love in the world, the director of Pine Girls Camp, and is involved with Renewal Ministries. She converted to the Catholic Church from Judiasm, and has since let Christ use her to bring his love to the world.
 
Fr. Mario Amore - the Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Sorrows, in Farmington, MI. Before entering the seminary, he was pursuing a degree in Pastoral Ministry, as well a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy. He entered the seminary and studied for the Catholic priesthood, earning a Masters of Divinity and a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit in May of 2015.
