Blessed Solanus Casey will be remembered on the first-ever celebration of his feast day on July 30. To mark the historic occasion, the Capuchin friars will hold a nine-day series of prayers (July 22-30), called a novena, and Masses at the Solanus Casey Center leading up to the Feast. Each day of the nine-day novena prayer focuses on a particular area of Blessed Solanus Casey’s life and ministry.

On July 25 1968, Blessed Pope Paul VI released his encyclical Humanae Vitae reaffirming the Church’s perennial teachings on the nature of conjugal love and the rejection of contraceptives. Does this document still hold relevance for today’s marriages, families, and society? We’ll hold up the mirror of Humanae Vitae to our own marriages to see how we’re reflecting God’s love to the world around us.

National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica | Royal Oak | 7-8pm
The National Shrine of The Little Flower Basilica will celebrate the First Feast Day of Blessed Fr. Solanus Casey with 7:00 pm mass celebrated by Archbishop Vigneron. A Relic of Blessed Fr. Solanus Casey will be available for veneration after Saturday Vigil Masses on July 28 and Sunday Masses on July 29. Veneration of the relic will also occur between 11am – 3pm on Monday, July 30.
