Master catechists are certified professional lay ecclesial ministers who have earned an advanced degree in theology, pastoral or religious studies from an approved institution and desire to assist in the following ways:

• Teach any of the 27 catechist foundational topics and facilitate Echoes of Faith Plus
• Assess and grant equivalencies for students in catechist foundational topics
• Supervise catechist formation programs within your vicariate
• Approve candidate credentials for advanced catechist certification
• Participate accrediting Catholic schools
• Mentor master catechist interns
• Volunteer for ad hoc working committees of the Archdiocese of Detroit
