Catholic Youth Organization in 2001 began a program specifically for middle school age youth entitled W.I.N.D. (Walking in New Directions). This is a one day Catholic Conference for 6th through 8th graders from parishes and schools throughout the six counties of our diocese.

CYO Summer camp was the place to be this summer, as campers and staff journeyed on an “Adventure to the Summit!” On the first day of each program the staff greeted campers with enthusiasm, helping campers move into their bunks in preparation for the week’s activities. Each program was packed to the brim with excitement as the campers and staff enjoyed daily camp activities such as swimming in Lake Huron, archery, climbing wall, sports and games, arts and crafts, and many more!

It is custom in the Catholic tradition that prior to the official beatification ceremony/liturgy, the local bishop for the individual named oversees the process of procuring relics. This is all done in communication and coordination with the Vatican’s Congregation for the Causes of the Saints. There are specific directives under Church (Canon) law that must be followed.

The CYO Athletic Fall Season is gearing up with practice starting August 9. Participating fall teams include 70 Football, 98 Boys and Girls Soccer, 168 Volleyball and 40 Cross Country teams. It's not too late to be a part of a tradition that goes back to 1933.

God granted the promise of a new beginning to Noah and his family through the symbol of the Rainbow. With that symbol in mind, a group of dedicated young leaders created a special opportunity for youth to gather and share in celebration of their common faith. Thus, Rainbow was created to give youth a new beginning. Each year since 1982, thousands of young people have gathered in Detroit to experience Rainbow. There is no single word to describe this phenomenon, but it shares a special place in the heart of over 50,000 of Detroit’s youth and adults that have come together to celebrate their faith, develop new friendships and carry forth the Word of the Lord.
