St. Joseph Oratory Parish, Detroit

On October 7, 2016, Archbishop Allen Vigneron issued a decree that erected a personal quasi-parish effective October 15, 2016 for those who desire stable and comprehensive pastoral care through the extraordinary form of Holy Mass according to the 1962 Roman Missal promulgated by Saint John XXIII and complementary liturgies of that time that have been retained for use in the Church pursuant to Saint John Paul II’s Apostolic Letter Ecclesia Dei given Motu proprio on 2 July 1988, and Pope Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Letter Summorum pontificum given Motu proprio 7 July 2007. The new parish will use Saint Joseph Church, Detroit, and be cared for by the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest.
